About Us
Internetworks Ltd was founded in 1996
by Piers Nicholson and Bridget Cuming, who are still the shareholders
in the company.
Both had lived in Epsom for some years, and had served on the College
Ward Residents Associations, one of the 13 RAs who (unusually in
England) control our local council. We were looking for a "showcase"
web site for the company, and so developed Epsom
and Ewell on the Internet, which has developed to be a well-rounded
community website with a lot of information content ranging from
Epsom Salts to cycle trails, early history to Mrs. Beeton, and much
more. It now gets nearly 400 page accesses a day. And it has also
developed a number of business services such as the popular feature
pages. The feature pages now get an anverage of 80 page accesses
a month.
Shortly afterwards, we decided to develop another showcase site
for sundials. This was prompted by Piers Nicholson's internest as
a designer of sundials, and a member of the council of the British
Sundial Society. Sundials on
the Internet now gets more than 1,500 page accesses a day.
Alongside these major sites we run for ourselves, we also developed
a major commercial website for Roskill Information Services, the
publishers of a world-famous range of reports on the economics of
metals and minerals. And we have also developed the trade
fairs and exhibitions UK site for Exhibition Audience Audits
Ltd with support from British Trade International/DTI.
These major projects take up about a third of our time, and the
rest of it is devoted to building websites for smaller
businesses, and advising businesses large and small on how to
start up on the Internet. For this, we charge a flat £60 per hour,
and our clients seem to think that this is some of the best value-for-money
advice they ever received.
We also run a remedial
service which is increasing popular as businesses and trade associations
find that the website they have had built for them by design-based
website companies don't actually work very well on the Internet.
We know what works and what doesn't and we are not distracted by
the latest fads and gizmos. So we can tell you frankly (and also
very economically) what the weak points in your website are, and
what you or your designers can do to plug them.
In short, in everything we do, we want to "make sure the Internet
works - for you"
